ASSISTANT MASTER CARPENTER
Job Description
This role supports and assists the Master Carpenter for all SALT mainstage productions and select events. You will assist the Master Carpenter to achieve set construction under the design of the set designer. This is a non-union 1099 independent contractor, part time position beginning in fall 2024.
Roles & Responsibilities

Build theatrical stage sets from construction drawings, assisting the Master Carpenter

Pickup materials & track budget expenses

Work off-site when necessary

Load in and strike sets between productions

Attend cue to cue & tech week for each production as necessary
Necessary Skills
-
A firm understanding of deadlines and self-pacing to complete tasks
-
Basic construction out of various materials (plywood, dimensional lumber, rigid foam, etc)
-
Physically capable of carrying heavy materials and sometimes working alone
-
Ability to lift 75lbs
-
Ability to read dimensions and/or scaled 2D and 3D construction documents

Calculate material needs from a set of construction documents
-
Basic theatrical painting (rolling, brushing, texturing)
-
Attention to detail & ability to communicate questions
-
Ability to work at heights up to 16 feet (ladders, scaffolding)
-
Ability to thoroughly follow instructions

A good helping of "common sense" and diligence for safety procedures
Prerequisites
-
Minimum 2 years hand-on experience in stagecraft
-
Construction experience with portfolio of work

No formal degrees are required

Candidates must be 18+
ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Job Description
This role supports and assists the Technical Director and Assistant Tech Director for all SALT mainstage productions and select events. You will maintain, program, and operate audio, lighting, and projection equipment for mainstage performances and events.
This is a non-union 1099 independent contractor, part time position beginning in fall 2024.
Roles & Responsibilities

Attend cue to cue & tech week for each production.

Run sound and act as Assistant Tech Director for performances of all mainstage shows (this role is split. You are only responsible for attending/operating half of the performances for each production).

Assist in maintaining sound, lighting, and video equipment under the direction of the Technical Director
Necessary Skills

A firm understanding of deadlines and self-pacing to complete tasks

Physically capable of carrying & lifting equipment and sometimes working alone

Ability to lift 50lbs

Attention to detail & ability to communicate questions

Ability to work at heights up to 16 feet (ladders, scaffolding)

Ability to thoroughly follow instructions

A good helping of "common sense" and diligence for safety procedures
-
A critical ear for sound mixing
Prerequisites
-
Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in live production environment (entertainment, television, or theater, etc)
-
Experience with ETC Eos lighting consoles and Qlab are recommended
-
Experience mixing & setting up live sound
-
No formal degrees are required
-
Candidates must be 18+
